Understanding MLB Standings

The standings below show wins, losses, winning percentage, games behind the division leader, and current streak for every team. Updated in real-time during games.

Playoff Picture & Wild Card

Each division winner earns an automatic playoff berth. The three teams with the best records among non-division winners in each league qualify as wild card entries. Track the playoff race below to see which teams are heating up or cooling down as the season progresses toward October baseball.

Understanding Standings Statistics

The MLB standings include several key statistics to help fans understand team performance. Wins (W) and Losses (L) show the team's record. Winning Percentage (PCT) is calculated by dividing wins by total games played. Games Back (GB) indicates how many games behind the division leader a team stands, calculated by taking the difference in wins plus the difference in losses, divided by two.

The Streak column shows whether a team is on a winning or losing streak and for how many games (e.g., W3 means three consecutive wins). Last 10 (L10) displays the team's record over their most recent ten games, which helps identify teams that are hot or struggling regardless of their overall record. These statistics update automatically as games conclude throughout the MLB season.

MLB Season Structure

The Major League Baseball regular season runs from late March through late September, with each team playing 162 games. Teams play more frequently within their own division, facing divisional rivals 13-19 times each. Interleague play brings American League teams against National League opponents for a portion of the schedule. The playoff format includes division winners and wild card teams competing in October for the World Series championship.
